Some of the most important elements of good design are the ones many of us never even notice.
Air is one of them.
It shapes the experience of a space. It influences how comfortable a room feels and can even affect our wellbeing at a subconscious level. Invisible by nature, it's also an essential element in the way we experience our homes.
For more than seventy years, Faber has built its story around that invisible element, exploring how technology and design can work together to improve everyday life.
To mark the International Day of Clean Air, Faber invites you to experience that idea from a different perspective on 22 September at the Franke Flagship Store, Via Pontaccio 18 in Milan. Starting at 5:00 PM, The Art of Shaping Air will bring creativity and innovation together through the work of Luca Barcellona, an internationally renowned artist and designer and one of the leading figures in contemporary calligraphy.
When Air Becomes Art
For one evening, one of Faber's most iconic products, Beat, will be reinterpreted by Luca Barcellona through a live artistic performance, transforming the hood into a unique work of art inspired by the movement, weightlessness and expressive power of air.
Known internationally for bringing together calligraphy, graphic design and contemporary art, Barcellona's work explores how gesture, form and material can communicate identity, emotion and culture. His collaboration with Faber invites visitors to look at a familiar design object through an entirely new lens.
Beyond the Performance
Luca Barcellona's live performance is only the beginning. Visitors will also be invited to step into a Creative Corner, an open space designed to make every guest part of the experience.
Each participant will receive a postcard featuring words inspired by the world of air and illustrated by Luca Barcellona on one side, with the outline of the Beat hood on the other. Using colour and their own creativity, visitors can reinterpret their idea of air and give personal form to an element that is invisible, yet essential to our everyday lives.
Creations can also be shared on social media by tagging Faber @faber_frankeairexpert. Everyone who takes part will receive an exclusive discount code to use on the Faber online shop when purchasing the brand's hoods.
The Art of Shaping Air is an invitation to discover how design can give form to something we experience every day, offering visitors a memorable moment of discovery and reflection.
