We recommend installing the extractor version as it is more effective, safer and quieter. It can expel polluted air outside through an exhaust duct and draw in fresh air, making the environment safer. Safety is particularly important when using gas-burning appliances, as stated by Italian Law 46/90. Extractor hoods are also quieter because the motor unit’s rotation speed is generally much lower, resulting in fewer internal vortices.

The volume of the kitchen determines the required extraction capacity. An effective hood changes the air in the kitchen 10 times per hour*. A powerful motor ensures greater silence and less energy consumption because it is effective at low speeds.
A hood does not disturb if it extracts sufficiently without exceeding 55 dB(A) of sound power. A powerful motor can also be effective at lower, quieter speeds.

The hood should be installed at a minimum distance of 65 cm from the hob. We recommend not installing it more than 75 cm from the hob so that it can extract fumes correctly. Furthermore, the fume exhaust should be as close as possible to the hood. Choose ducts of 150 mm in diameter (or no less than 120 mm), no longer than 3-4 meters with a maximum of 2 bends. Warning: the warranty does not cover any damages caused by not respecting the minimum safety distances.

A duct diameter of 150 mm is optimal for hoods with a flow rate of 300 m3/h or higher. If ducting with this diameter cannot be installed, we recommend a diameter of 120 mm. Smaller ducting can negatively affect the flow rate and noise level of the hood.

Before performing the extraction test, ensure that the hood has been installed correctly, following the instructions in the installation booklet provided with the product. A preliminary extraction test can be performed by turning on both the hood and the hob, and then bringing a pan of water to a boil. If the installation is correct and the poor extraction is due to a product defect, request help from the authorised Faber Technical Assistance Centre (info at the link https://www.faberspa.com/centri-assistenza/) by sending the details of the code written on the label inside the hood. The extraction capacity and noise level of Faber hoods are measured according to the international standards IEC/EN 61591 and IEC/EN 60704-3 (sound power), specifically devised by certification bodies to detect the performances of kitchen hoods. These methods reproduce typical installation and operating conditions, therefore providing realistic and reliable data. Demand that the performance of hoods refer to these standards: you will be able to rely on correct, complete, and reliable information – just as we provide. Our laboratory is accredited by IMQ and NEMKO, and all performances of Faber hoods, including the grease capture capacity of the filters and the brightness of the lamps, are measured internally.

The model of each hood is shown on the label inside the product (identifiable by removing the metal filters/grid). This label has a service code, in the top right part, of 7 or 9 digits starting with 63..., or a 10-digit code with the format 110.xxxx.xxx.

The hood’s noise is caused by the passage of air inside it during operation. Faber hood components are designed to reduce the obstacles to the airflow, achieving excellent results in terms of low noise emission. An effective precaution to prevent an increase in noise is to use properly sized ducting (120-150 mm in diameter) for the air outlet. Dirty or saturated filters can obstruct the airflow: periodic cleaning (or replacement) of the filters ensures a smooth airflow. The hood has a hole near the upper plate through which the ducting for the fumes can pass. Additional outlets, such as on chimneys, are not recommended because any aesthetic damage caused to the steel would then not be covered by the warranty.

Any aesthetic defect of the product must be reported to the technician at the time of installation, or when opening the hood’s packaging. Subsequent complaints and any action from the Technical Assistance Centre will not be covered by the warranty.
